The year is 2432 and humanity has spread far from their home planet. The diaspora had spread humanity far and a new age had begun of peace and prosperity. Not that the new human governments were a utopian vision but humanity had progressed far. That was, until humanity faced the Gween. A race they had not yet even seen the face of went to war but humanity, led by the Terran Confederacy, managed to beat back these invaders. However, it was at a great cost as the Gween had used biological weaponry, spreading a plague that wiped out the majority of humanity. Worlds that had burgeoning populations were now ghost worlds or lightly populated. The Terran Confederacy and other human polities were forced to pull back their borders and left large areas to the wild. The Gween War had changed the character of humanity with the Terran Confederacy, once considered a model of how to govern, becoming draconian and authoritarian. This has fractured the Terran Confederacy with rebellion occurring on many worlds. The stress on the over populated core worlds of the Terran Confederacy has forced it to restart colonizing worlds that had been left to fallow. Advance forces were sent to recon and refurbish old infrastructure that had sat idle for decades, some as long as a century. The Atlas Station in the Omicron Omega system was such a place. On the edge of what was the Terran Confederacy frontier, it orbited one of two worlds that were inhabitable. The Terran Confederacy desired to use Atlas Prime as a prison world and to colonize the second with citizens willing to relocate. The advanced party to repair the station and prepare it for the Terran Confederacy efforts was already on site… so begins our tale.
