Tales of....

Got a great idea for a comic or pinup? Want to share it with our artists and writers? Write it up and post it here, and maybe someone will use it in a future MCcomix story!

Hey everyone. Trishbot and MC Tek have blessed us with an extra special hand-drawn hypno-themed comic! Unfortunately, neither of them currently have the authorization to post it, so I've humbly stepped in to host this special event. When they get their own folder, I'll be moving this there. It takes place in the Metrobay universe, and will be carried on by myself and Finister Foul. So say hello to the first big Liberty Grove-Metrobay crossover.

But enough of that. Let's get to the sweet action:

Hopefully a taste of more things to come. A big hand to these two for spending the last few months working on this!
If she would just do what I asked, I wouldn't need to use mind control!

Badass, thanks Akon!

As my fellow artist has stated me and trishbot have been at this for quite awhile, the whole process was awesome, have to thank trishbot for all the help she's given me. The hand drawn comic is the prelude to some bigger stuff, I'll let Akon and Fin give their spin on that. Originally it was about 2 pages short of it's current size, Trishbot convinced me to add two more pages to this great short story. When i can i'll move the story to it's own section(thanks again Akon!) Hopefully you guys enjoyed it, I would like do more later if possible. Stay tune for more stuff as we're just getting started.

So, I just finished reading the new (first) issue of Sword and Shield. And I have to say... *a-hem*... me, me, me, me... "Awe-SOME!" A massive kudos has to seriously go out to both TrishBot & MC Tek on this one. I'll get to the art in a second because the praise for it is probably going to blow up some egos and, quite possibly, get a 22-page second issue out of it... Okay... Wishful thinking, but we'll get to that soon. First let's touch upon the writing.

As per usual, another great script from the twisted MCing mind of TrishBot (with the basic storyline from the artist, MC Tek). I'm not just saying that because we're friends or because she let me do up a cover for her series, "Hypnotica". I'm saying it because I am, first and foremost, a fan. I'll admit, a lot of the stories on MCComix are beyond excellence. You can't get a lot of good stories in the mainstream like you do here. With Trish's work, however, it's like you get the best of both worlds (and we're not talking hermaphroditic porn. Yes, I threw out a "Clerks" reference.) Trish's handle on the characters is actually quite amazing. Being able to give each person a voice is a pretty hard road to drive on, considering a lot of writers tend to push for their faves to stand out more. Trish can actually bring a lot of characters into the forefront without crowding the plate, so to speak. And this first chapter is a pretty good example of that. The main story is focused on the crime fighting twins, but we also get treated to a brief introduction of the villain, the almost obligatory guest star in the ever cute Pink Pussycat and a mystery character in the shadows. This first issue just shows off Trish's continually consistent ability to maintain a balance and understanding of what (and who) she has to work with.

As for the art... MC Tek is a welcome breath of fresh air to MC Comix. I, personally, am drawn to the art of hand drawing. Don't get me wrong, I do love the digital stuff. Wish I could do it myself, some times. But it's sort of like going to the cinema and all the animated movies are fully computer generated. Then you get that one that's not and you're drawn to it, no pun intended. MC Tek has a very nice technique going on. For me, the style is like a blend of anime and a simplified Disney-esque takle. Adorable while still maintaining the fact that this a superhero tale. And it is actually nice to see the use of the traditional comic panel system that works much like Trish's ability to flow from one plot point to the next. This type of work is pretty pain-staking, but the results are just totally amazing. I can't wait to see what in stored for the next issue.

Now for the bad... Sorry, guys, but it wouldn't be a proper critique without one. And seriously, it's not that bad. It's just one little thing. I do actually wish there was just one little extra panel on the last page. The issue was pretty action driven, but the last page has Ring Mistress standing over a defeated League. If there was one panel of someone in the act of getting knocked out, it might have been a nice little transition. But all in all, a very amazingly well put together issue with great art and a great beginning to an intro story. Kudos.

Jasmine- I am loving this already! I can't wait to see where this goes.

Thanks! More soon i hope.

Grimtidings - I like the concept (although naked women stealing stuff is definitely not the way to keep a low profile). Lots of angles that could be exploited for a mind-controlled payoff. The art style is not what we usually get around here but a refreshing change. I guess my only (if you can call it that) complaint is... not enough pages! :)

LOL well a certain villain has a certain sense of humor in the stuff she does. More pages? Well as a short story I think this one is ok were it is, I am looking into another one that longer, alright, much longer. Keep your eyes peeled.

The Collector - Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Great work as always!

Thanks! Glad you liked it.

Leto17- Thanks! This looks like alot of sexy fun!

^_^ thanks leto, just getting started (cracks knuckles)

Dumbtime- This is looking great at the start. I think the collaboration idea is an awesome one. Can't wait to see more down the road.

And more coming I hope, while I'm not using alot of the characters from the original draft, I'm sure you'll like the next two follow ups, uhm, after nick's Duality Dame origin story, check that out when it drops!

bluemax2- Looks great so far. Love the concept. Can't wait to see what the Ringmistress does to the League.

Any idea when the next installment is coming?

thanks and keep up the good work.

regards,

Bluemax

Well, for a teaser (points to akonkid and FIn) as for other 2D art work, I got something cooking. I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Wow, great critic begbie, to be honestly I think trish is one of the best writers I've come across, some truly jaw dropping stuff(points to Hypnotica #8 go read it if you haven't!) she great at pointing out my goofs too, written or drawn. I thank Fin and Akon for letting use their characters in a wise way. The story actually is longer then I originally thought up, still it works out very well and I hope you guys enjoy it. As for my art, thanks a bunch been working on it for a while, the Disney reference is a first for me, usually I get a Joe Mad! Reference first before anything else, so thanks alot, means alot. I'll see if I can work in that extra panel Begbie.

alright gents and ladies, had an idea, while i'm sitting on things to do(meaning it may be a while before another sword and shield 2D comic) gunna have alittle fun there, the first five ppl to post an awesome idea for a scene of mc i will draw in the order of my choosing and present it next week, now keep in mind can't be the same person doing five posts of ideas, one per member. No torture involved, no incest please, and try to have fun with it. also after the week is done i will pull them down as i'm sure the forum is not made for holding a ton of pictures.

How about a bee girl scenario, like the old Spider-Man cartoon, the Swarm? An evil "queen bee" zaps a trio of heroines with her stinger, cocooning them and turning them into her bee girl minions. They emerge from their cocoons with black-and-yellow versions of their old costumes, antenna sprouting from their heads and gossamer wings on their backs. Using three heroines lets you show the changes with just one picture. One heroine is fighting as she is cocooned, one heroine is midway through the change and one heroine is emerging from the cocoon as a newly converted bee girl. Just a thought; any way you want to deliver that basic scenario is fine.

Space opera variations work well too. A green-skinned alien girl with antennae and a form-fitting silver uniform beams down and zaps a couple of heroines with her mind control ray gun. She then takes them back up to the lab in her ship -- something with a lot of cylinders to hold her specimens -- and turns them into fellow green-skinned aliens girls: new servants with silvery versions of their former costumes.

thanks knyght!

Alright gang, today I officially got myself caught with all of mccomix, doing a wide critic today of what good and bad. As most you guys already know I have one comic under my belt here at MC comix and as an artist, critic is apart of my everyday life. So lets began:

First up is Doc as the master of the site, Doc has travelled along way since HIP started, like most of the other artists and writers here we all had a start somewhere. Originally a lot of those characters you read about such as Valiant Grrl, were one time use characters. Naturally you guys plead for more and he started using them more often, leading to big stories and events. Story telling wise Doc has a great sense of direction and planning to his stories, at first there was a lack of character development there mainly for the above said reason. As the site grew, the characters grew. It's nice that quality over quantity has been more of Doc's thing now. Instead a mass amount of characters getting control there's a focus on a few with more thought given to plot and detail. Loving his current story arc, nice to see Ginger being more then cardboard cut out, even enthrall to Max as she is she has feelings and thoughts she calls her own. If anything my only real concern if there will be more like this.

Up next is Trishbot, she actually has been one of the reason I started coming here actually, while Doc is awesome, Trishbot has been doing a awesome job as of late, Hypnotica being her first real comic, it's really nice to see what she has done for some of the characters, Hyp and even Enchantress being specially well thought of. I realized you guys want MC at the first chance possible, but here me out, you go to a movie for entertainment that carries an actual plot yes? This is what Trishbot and Doc have been doing, with Trishbot catching up behind Doc. She even proven she can jump to different ways of telling a story, sword and shield being a good example. There are a few slow points in her telling, nothing really huge that she can't work on. Really though, I think she could carry on a major character development heavy story arc and do it well.

Man, if anything Akonkid has rightly sucker punched me with some of the great storytelling he's been driving home as of late. Read some of his stuff from HIP and here as well. His art has beefed up since then as well. More lighting, camera angles, and extra bits that make him stand out rather well. He has this cool film grain look to some of his art, works really well for Vanishing Act. His recent story has this really cool fight scene that screams old school jack Kirby dramatic fighting, and I was like man, that's how you do it. Can't really say there much to talk about as far as improving is concern he's already improved in the areas I mentioned, well, maybe a better shot of Anna at the end of Vanishing Act...ah, wishful thinking. Still he has really come a long way, hope to see more.

Jpeger I remember mainly from HIP, he's done some great stories, as of late there hasn't been real presence from him. Still he has some of the best stuff, mostly on HIP of course, thou he's more responsible for the creation of MCcomix and the continued leadership of HIP so send him a pm for the awesome job he does running both sites. At the moment I don't have access to HIP so I really can't give him a fair review. Maybe in the future I can give him a better review.
Battlestrength is the new one here at MCcomix, does some really strong work, good potential there. While his stories are not set in the Metrobayverse, he does have a solid idea of where he wants to take his story. His art is really clean, full of detail, some nice dramatic angles and lighting. Dude that is awesome comp you have there must take a while to really render all that, I know fin has a damn good one. Would like to see him do some more low key stuff after his Mtech run.
